North Shore Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on a full-time night shift basis. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to patients requiring complex assessments and interventions in a fast-paced emergency setting. You will work with patients across all age groups and backgrounds, delivering care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Collect comprehensive assessment data pertinent to patients' health status and situations
- Triage patients using age-appropriate, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive practices to prioritize care and optimize patient flow
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and clinical issues
- Identify expected outcomes and develop individualized care plans
- Implement, coordinate, and provide patient education to promote health and maintain a safe practice environment
- Evaluate progress toward attainment of care outcomes
- Communicate effectively in a variety of formats across all areas of practice
- Demonstrate leadership in the professional practice setting
- Maintain current knowledge and competence in nursing practice
- Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to emergency nursing care, ensuring interventions are tailored to patients' age-specific and clinical needs
- Work with constant alertness and maintain safe practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- No prior nursing experience required
Physical Requirements
- Constant use of speech for oral communication
- Constant standing and walking
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 0-25 lbs
- Frequent pushing and pulling of objects weighing 0-25 lbs
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, and ability to identify and distinguish colors
- Frequent use of smell to detect and recognize odors
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and hear alarms or malfunctioning machinery
- Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing 25-50 lbs
- Occasional pushing and pulling of objects weighing 25-50 lbs
- Occasional lifting and moving of patients
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements
Schedule
- Full-time, night shift
