Registered Nurse - Emergency Department - PRN TIER PLAN (up to $45/hour)

Join our Emergency Department team as a Registered Nurse on a flexible PRN (Per Diem As Needed) basis with our innovative Tier Plan. This position offers you the ability to choose your compensation level based on your availability commitment over a 6-week schedule.

Compensation and Schedule

Our PRN Tier Plan provides flexibility with two compensation options:

• Tier 1: $40/hour for 6 shifts in a 6-week schedule
• Tier 2: $45/hour for 12 shifts in a 6-week schedule

Shift differentials apply for nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will:

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocol; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess patient learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers
• Identify issues and resources to support patient care
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage clinical situations
• Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of employment or compact license
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification at time of hire
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• Current TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum) certification

Credential Grace Periods

Grace periods to obtain required certifications depend on your experience level:

For Experienced Associates (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years):

• ACLS: within 30 days of hire
• PALS: within 30 days of hire
• TNCC: within 60 days of hire

For New Graduates and Experienced Associates New to the Specialty:

• ACLS: within 90 days of hire
• PALS: within 90 days of hire
• TNCC: within 18 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty

Education and Onboarding

All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member, and initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of organizational entry competency validation and Emergency Department-specific competency validation. All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation. Skills and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program's tracking software. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is required.
