Registered Nurse - Emergency - 1700-4

Valley Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on the night shift. This full-time position (0.9 FTE) offers an opportunity to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting while working as part of a collaborative clinical team.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Emergency Department at VMC Main Campus in Renton, Washington, providing safe, quality care to patients utilizing the nursing process as the basis for clinical practice. You will assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients during your assigned shift.

Responsibilities

• Assess, guide, direct, and facilitate workflow on the unit
• Provide direct patient care and clinical assessment
• Monitor and evaluate nursing care given to each patient through direct observation, consultation, and patient rounds
• Assess unit and environmental safety during patient rounds and report or correct deficiencies
• Respond to patient and family concerns and complaints
• Demonstrate safe use of patient care equipment and teach others to use equipment safely
• Communicate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Function within ANA Standards and the Nurse Practice Act
• Maintain awareness of Joint Commission standards, state codes, and practice acts
• Document care accurately and ensure compliance with standards

Required Qualifications

• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington
• Successful completion of a graduate nurse residency program orientation or six months of experience as a Registered Nurse
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS and PALS certification within 3 months of hire
• NIHSS certification within 3 months of hire
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification within 12 months of hire
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification within 12 months of hire
• One year of experience in Emergency nursing preferred, or successful completion of an ED residency program
• Ability to lift from floor to overhead levels and carry items at waist level weighing up to 40 pounds
• Ability to participate in team lifting and operate patient lifting equipment safely
• Ability to stoop, bend, reach, crouch, and squat
• Ability to stand and walk for extensive periods as required for patient care
• Full body range of motion including ability to reach from floor to overhead levels
• Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
• Ability to distinguish colors

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Two years of practice in clinical nursing or leadership in emergency nursing

Compensation

• Salary range: $48.82 to $89.19 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)
