Job Description

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse Circulator for the Operating Room in Hinsdale, Illinois. As an OR Circulator, you will provide comprehensive patient care in a surgical setting, working the night shift on a full-time basis. You will be responsible for assessing patient conditions, developing and implementing individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes through continuous monitoring and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient conditions and needs through comprehensive evaluations to develop individualized care plans
  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, ensuring comprehensive and continuous care
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely according to prescribed protocols
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress continuously, adjusting care plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Document patient care activities meticulously to maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care to promote understanding and compliance
  • Advocate for patient safety by identifying potential risks and implementing preventive measures
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and effective patient care
  • Maintain sterile environment and adhere to safety protocols to prevent infection and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
  • Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions such as IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections
  • Provide emotional and physical support to patients and their families during recovery
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support CPR certification
  • One or more years of medical-surgical nursing experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating compassion and respect to patients and families undergoing stressful procedures and treatments
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated, taking direction from physicians and management
  • Safe knowledge of equipment, procedures, supplies, computers, IV pumps, NOVA Glucose monitor, I-STAT, and immediate use sterilization policy and procedures
  • Proficiency in English
  • Effective communication abilities
  • EMR charting competency
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the department

Compensation

  • Pay range: $35.53 - $62.79 per hour
