Join Boston Medical Center's Critical Care Unit as a Registered Nurse delivering specialized care to patients with severe medical conditions. As the largest trauma hospital and largest safety net hospital in New England, BMC provides leading-edge clinical care in a mission-driven environment. You will work collaboratively with intensivists, critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, and clinical pharmacists to stabilize and support patients with life-threatening illnesses using a patient-centered care model.
Clinical Setting
The Critical Care Unit at Boston Medical Center - South is a specialized unit dedicated to serving patients with severe medical conditions. The multidisciplinary team is committed to providing patient-centered care, involving families in the decision-making process, and continuously improving quality and safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
- Communicate with various healthcare team members, patients, and their families
- Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to interprofessional colleagues
- Update and manage patient records
- Enter and interpret computerized data and information
- Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization
- Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
Schedule
- 36 hours per week
- 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM shifts
- Every other weekend rotation
Required Qualifications
- Nursing Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required
- Active Massachusetts RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior critical care experience
- Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCAR) or Trauma Nurse Counselor Certification (TNCC)
