Memorial Health System is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Telemetry unit (3 South). This position offers a 0.9 FTE schedule requiring 72 hours biweekly. You will provide professional nursing care to cardiac telemetry patients in an environment focused on continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Participate in bedside shift report and handoff procedures
- Perform hourly rounding and obtain required patient assessments and reassessments per nursing policy
- Develop and revise plans of care and teaching plans based on assessed patient and family needs
- Coordinate timely, adequate discharge teaching with patients, families, and significant others, documenting appropriately
- Implement and monitor nursing interventions
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Meditech within required timeframes
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounding and collaborate with team members to identify patient needs
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and communicate with physicians using SBAR communication
- Effectively manage patient care and delegate appropriately based on patient needs and caregiver skill level
- Facilitate positive and caring relationships with patients, families, and team members based on trust and mutual respect
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families based on empathy and trust
- Promote a positive patient experience
- Maintain current knowledge of and practice within hospital policies and scope of practice
- Clarify unclear communication between healthcare team members
- Use proper channels of authority when communicating information
- Collect data related to physical, psychological, and psychosocial health status
- Complete admission, handoff, transfer, and discharge procedures
- Coordinate with physician's plan of care regarding admission assessment and discharge needs
- Maintain compliance with RQI requirements
- Assume additional duties and responsibilities as necessary
Charge Nurse Responsibilities
If selected for charge nurse duties, additional responsibilities include:
- Complete daily nurse leader rounds
- Perform shift checks as assigned
- Assist with chart audits for nursing documentation
- Complete staff assignments considering skill level and patient acuity
- Manage unit throughput and adjust assignments as needed
- Report performance, safety, staffing, and behavioral concerns to the nursing unit manager
- Assist with conflict resolution in the absence of the nursing manager
- Role model positive behaviors including integrity, fairness, and consistency
- Serve as agent for change for the department
- Assist as super user for incident report completion
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio (or West Virginia license if working in WV)
- BLS certification required upon hire
- ACLS certification required within 1 year of employment

- Manual dexterity, color vision, and near visual acuity
- Proper lifting techniques and body mechanics
