Registered Nurse - Cardiac Tele, Part-time, 7P

Texas Health Southwest is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 28-bed Telemetry Department to provide telemetry and medical/surgical level care to adult and geriatric patients with general medical/surgical, endocrine, GI, and renal conditions. This part-time position offers 24 hours weekly across two 12-hour shifts working 7p–7a.

Clinical Setting

The Telemetry Department is a MAGNET facility and Level III Trauma Center. The unit maintains a 5:1 patient-to-nurse ratio on both day and night shifts. Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care utilizing the nursing process: assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporate age-specific safety and infection control measures into patient care
• Initiate action to meet patient and significant others' needs for information
• Maintain continuity of patient care across shifts, between hospitals, and during out-of-hospital transfers
• Demonstrate confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment
• Recognize and understand patients' affiliations and basic human needs

Required Qualifications

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS certification prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• ACLS certification within 90 days of hire
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention Training) within 90 days of hire
• One year of experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current telemetry and/or medical/surgical experience

Schedule

• Part-time, 24 hours weekly
