Texas Health Southwest is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac PCU on a PRN (per diem) basis, working day shifts. This 36-bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit provides intermediate and telemetry-level care for post-acute cardiac, general medical, endocrine, GI, and renal patients. You will work in a MAGNET-designated facility and Level III Trauma Center with Primary Stroke Center designation.
Clinical Setting
The Cardiac PCU maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 depending on acuity. The unit serves patients requiring intermediate care and telemetry monitoring in the post-acute phase of cardiac illness and related medical conditions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care utilizing the nursing process: assess patients, plan care, implement interventions, and evaluate effectiveness
- Incorporate age-specific safety and infection control measures into patient care
- Initiate action to meet patient and family information needs
- Maintain continuity of care across shifts, between facilities, and during out-of-hospital transfers
- Demonstrate confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Recognize and understand patients' individual needs and affiliations
Required Qualifications
- Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
- CLIA Foreign Education Equivalency (CLIAFE) compliance if applicable
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification prior to providing independent patient care, maintained quarterly
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 90 days of hire
- One year of experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program
