This position is a Registered Nurse role on the Telemetry/Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a 36-bed unit consisting of all private rooms. You will provide continuous cardiac monitoring and continuous pulse oximetry for patients with cardiac medical-surgical diagnoses, including those requiring cardiac catheterization for intervention and diagnostic testing. This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that emphasizes teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation, respiratory therapy, dietary services, and other ancillary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with your level of practice
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education; identify issues and resources
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to manage clinical situations
- Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in state of employment or compact
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) required at time of hire
- ACLS certification required
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
- One year of experience in a related nursing specialty
Onboarding and Competency Requirements
- All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member
- Initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and Medical-Surgical specific competency validation
- All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation
- Skills and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program's tracking software
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is required
Credential Grace Periods
If you are an Experienced Associate (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years):
- ACLS: within 30 days of hire
- PALS: within 30 days of hire
- TNCC: within 60 days of hire
- TCAR: within 60 days of hire
- NRP: within 30 days of hire
- AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM: within 30 days of hire
- STABLE: within 30 days of hire
If you are a New Graduate or Experienced Associate New to the Specialty (less than one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years):
- ACLS: within 90 days of hire
- PALS: within 90 days of hire
- TNCC: within 18 months of hire
- TCAR: within 18 months of hire
- NRP: within 60 days of hire
- AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM: within 60 days of hire
- STABLE: within 60 days of hire
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, 6 PM to 6 AM
- Full-time position
