Memorial Health System is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the Belpre Emergency Department. This position is 0.9 FTE (72 hours biweekly) and offers the opportunity to provide direct emergency care in a continuous quality improvement environment while demonstrating the MHS Standards of Excellence.
Clinical Setting
You will work in a fast-paced emergency department environment, providing professional nursing care to patients across the full spectrum of acute and emergent conditions. The role requires effective triage, rapid assessment, and coordination of care with an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in bedside shift report and handoff procedures
- Perform hourly patient rounding
- Obtain required patient assessments and reassessments per nursing policy
- Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate with physicians using SBAR communication
- Implement and monitor nursing interventions
- Consistently document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Meditech within required timeframes
- Coordinate timely and adequate patient and family teaching in preparation for discharge
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounding and collaborate with team members to identify patient needs
- Effectively manage patient care and delegate appropriately based on patient needs and caregiver skill level
- Develop and revise plans of care and teaching plans based on assessed patient and family needs
- Perform admission, handoff, transfer, and discharge procedures
- Coordinate with the physician's plan of care regarding admission assessment and discharge needs
- Utilize A.I.D.E.T. with all patient interactions
- Demonstrate effective patient triage and maintain triage competency
- Collect data related to physical, psychological, and psychosocial health status
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families based on empathy and trust
- Facilitate positive patient experiences
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members using proper channels of authority
- Clarify any unclear communication between team members
- Maintain current knowledge of and practice within hospital policies
- Seek help from appropriate resources as needed
- Assume all other duties and responsibilities as necessary
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio (or West Virginia license if working in WV)
- BLS certification required upon hire
- Annual stroke education certification required upon hire
- ACLS certification required within 1 year of employment
- PALS certification required within 1 year of employment
- TNCC certification required within 1 year of employment
- NRP certification required within 1 year of employment
- Maintains compliance in RQI
- Verbal, clerical, and numerical skills
- Manual dexterity, color vision, and near visual acuity
Preferred Qualifications
- ASLS certification upon hire
Education and Certifications
Stroke education is required during orientation and may include access to stroke policies, completion of online stroke module education, NIHSS training, ASLS, and T-PA administration training.
Schedule
Full-time position at 0.9 FTE (72 hours biweekly).
