Registered Nurse- Behavioral Health

Montefiore Nyack Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Behavioral Health department in Nyack, New York. This per diem position offers the flexibility of day shift hours (7 AM–7 PM, 11.5 hours daily) while providing direct nursing care to patients across all age groups in a behavioral health setting.

As a Registered Professional Nurse, you will manage, delegate, coordinate, and provide nursing care using the nursing process. You will work collaboratively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. Your responsibilities will include assessing patient needs, implementing treatment plans, managing medications safely, and maintaining clinical competence in behavioral health nursing practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide systematic nursing care within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice
• Integrate patient safety principles in direct nursing care and medication management
• Adhere to established communication standards and processes
• Participate in forums addressing patient care, education, policy, procedures, safety, and clinical outcomes
• Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skills related to behavioral health nursing
• Demonstrate accountability for clinical competence and age-specific competency requirements
• Respond promptly to patient needs and concerns
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in performance improvement activities and competency assessments
• Use equipment and supplies fiscally and responsibly

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (minimum)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in behavioral health or related nursing area
• Active Registered Nurse license from the New York State Board of Nursing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
• On-call availability required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing
• National Certification in behavioral health or related area of practice

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $59.69
• Rate subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education, or other relevant factors
