Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health - Children's Unit - 7A

Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Behavioral Health Children's Unit (7A). In this role, you will provide professional nursing care to pediatric patients in a recovery-oriented treatment setting, working as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver individualized, goal-directed care.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding patient health status and develop individualized plans of care based on nursing diagnoses
• Implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient responses to treatment
• Provide direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and non-licensed nursing personnel in delivering direct patient care
• Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel while considering patient safety, staff safety, and staff experience and knowledge
• Administer medications, including psychoactive medications, with knowledge of rationale and effects
• Maintain required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards
• Clarify any order or treatment regimen believed to be inaccurate, non-efficacious, or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed practitioner
• Perform daily nursing groups as directed by the treatment team
• Support medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff in accordance with the Hospital's mission and ANA Standards of Practice

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current RN license in the State of Texas
• BLS certification
• Unit-specific competencies obtained within six months of hire
