Join UCSF Medical Center's Bayfront Operating Room as a Registered Nurse in a full-time, day shift position. This 14-suite surgical facility serves a multidisciplinary patient population across specialties including Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Urology, Gynecology, Plastics, Pain Service, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, General Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Robotic Surgery. The facility features advanced integrated surgical suites and robotic technology, with a 23-hour surgical stay capacity.
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge and abilities essential to safe nursing practice within the scope of the California Nurse Practice Act
- Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care
- Function as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams
- Carry out established nursing procedures and perform related duties as required
- Provide nursing care for patients with complex needs with assistance and supervision
- Assist with management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team
- Demonstrate willingness to learn new skills and foster a harmonious work environment
- Promote cooperative working relationships with colleagues, physicians, other disciplines, and the public through effective communication, honesty, respect, cultural sensitivity, and professional feedback
Clinical Setting
The Bayfront Operating Room consists of 14 surgical suites and 2 procedural rooms with a 23-hour surgical stay facility. The department emphasizes a multidisciplinary team-based approach, advanced technology, integrated suites, and robotic surgery capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years of recent RN clinical experience in an adult operating room in an outpatient setting
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Current healthcare provider CPR BLS or ACLS certification
- Proficiency to independently circulate all case types within at least three of the following services: Ophthalmology/Cornea/Retina, GYN/Robotic, GU/Robotic, General Surgery/Robotic, OHNS/Airway, or MIS Spine
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
- Knowledge and abilities essential to successful performance of assigned duties
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR)
- Proficiency in scrubbing role in at least 2 of the listed surgical services
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- RN sedation certification
