Registered Nurse

This position is a Registered Nurse role requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills based on psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. You will apply the nursing process in your assigned department, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to provide physical and psychological support to patients, families, and friends. You will also supervise assigned team members and students.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient assessments, formulate plans of care, oversee implementation, and evaluate and adjust plans of care utilizing critical thinking skills
• Perform nursing acts authorized by the board and consistent with American Nursing Association Standards of Practice or standards established by nationally accepted nursing organizations
• Provide care, counsel, health teaching, and health promotion using Teach Back methodology to confirm patient comprehension
• Administer medications, intravenous therapy, and treatments as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner
• Supervise, delegate, and follow through with other personnel performing nursing care activities
• Mentor and precept students and orient new staff as assigned
• Report pertinent information up the chain of command to the Clinical Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or House Nurse Coordinator
• Participate on various teams, committees, and performance improvement initiatives
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, coworkers, and yourself
• Participate in discharge planning and transition of care, identifying patient needs
• Serve as a patient advocate and escalate patient-related concerns in a timely manner
• Document pertinent findings in the medical record in a timely manner
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and function as an active team member
• Assume responsibility for your own professional development
• Utilize effective communication skills and active listening with a compassionate and empathetic attitude
• Practice Hands Off communication utilizing SBAR and perform bedside shift reporting using SBAR unless otherwise directed
• Function as a positive influence and role model while adhering to professional code of conduct
• Respect the dignity and confidentiality of all patient-related matters
• Perform other job duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing
• Active Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
• De-Escalation Training within 6 months of hire
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to travel to client residences in inclement weather and provide nursing care in varying environmental situations
• Responsible for preparation of and interpretation of client plans of care and systematic assessments and reassessments
• Responsible for performing nursing treatments, procedures, and total client care in accordance with established agency and nursing care standards
• Responsible for communicating pertinent client assessment findings to the physician
• Responsible for initiating referrals to other health care organizations and community services based on identified client needs and physician orders

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
