The Clinical Nurse II provides clinical care for patients evaluated and followed in the Allergy/Immunology and Infectious Diseases Faculty Practice clinics at UCSF. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and in collaboration with physician staff, you will develop and maintain high standards of patient care, ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, and support daily clinic operations.
Clinical Setting
The Allergy and Immunology Clinic evaluates and treats patients with allergic conditions including asthma, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, rashes, food allergy, drug hypersensitivity, bee sting allergy, immune deficiencies, frequent infections, and inflammatory diseases. The clinic provides complete allergy skin testing and allergy immunotherapy.
The UCSF Infectious Diseases Clinic evaluates and treats patients with a wide range of infectious diseases, with a focus on complex or unusual conditions. Patient populations include those with infections of skin or other soft tissue, urinary tract infections, herpes virus infections, mycobacterial infections of the lungs and skin, coccidioidomycosis (valley fever), fever of unknown cause, bone and joint infections, and OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy).
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process for patient care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic clinical care
- Individualize all components of nursing care to meet patients' physiological and psychosocial developmental levels and needs
- Assist with management of patient care administered by UCSF physicians and other members of the clinical and nursing team
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Support daily clinic operations
- Project a professional and courteous demeanor and comply with Medical Center House and Telephone Standards
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience with allergy/immunology procedures
- Prior experience with care coordination
- Prior experience in a medical office and outpatient environment
- Experience with electronic health record systems
- Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and Internet
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of RN experience in an inpatient setting
- Experience working with EPIC-APEX
- BSN or MSN
- High level of interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Licenses and Certifications
- California Registered Nurse License
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
