North Oaks Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for Adult Acute Care to provide quality nursing care to patients in our acute care setting. As a member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering compassionate, evidence-based patient care while maintaining the highest standards of nursing practice.
Schedule
- Full-time position
- 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift
- 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- Non-exempt
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, and evaluate) for each patient on an individual basis
- Administer medications as ordered by the physician and document patient response
- Monitor patients receiving IV conscious sedation according to policy
- Administer blood, blood components, hyperalimentation, and chemotherapy in accordance with hospital policy
- Maintain accurate documentation using vital sign records, nurses' notes, and other appropriate forms
- Assist with quality assurance audits
- Account for narcotics and report medication errors
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including dress code and attendance requirements
- Report incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions
- Maintain a clean patient environment
- Demonstrate knowledge of hospital safety codes and perform duties during drills and actual emergencies
- Assist the department manager in maintaining policies and procedures
- Schedule personnel assignments as applicable
- Monitor equipment function
- Promote satisfactory communication and relationships with colleagues, physicians, other departments, patients, and families
- Attend committee meetings and in-service programs as designated
- Perform other duties as requested
- Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Program and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Louisiana RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership in a professional nursing organization
Physical Demands
- Required to stand for long periods of time
- Lifting and transporting of patients is required
- Motor coordination and manual dexterity are necessary
