The opportunity

Job Description

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Acute Neuro/Telemetry unit. This full-time, night shift position offers the opportunity to provide sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients with neurological conditions and those requiring cardiac monitoring in a major regional healthcare resource with a deep commitment to medical education and research.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an acute care environment providing inpatient services across virtually every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery. The role emphasizes population-specific patient care delivered through a multidisciplinary healthcare team approach.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient conditions and analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues
  • Identify expected outcomes individualized to each patient and healthcare situation
  • Develop and implement care plans that prescribe strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes
  • Coordinate care delivery across the healthcare team
  • Employ strategies to promote health and maintain a safe environment
  • Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes
  • Practice ethically using the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements
  • Integrate evidence and research findings into clinical practice
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of formats with patients, families, and team members
  • Demonstrate leadership by orienting, mentoring, and managing team members
  • Participate in unit, departmental, and institutional performance improvement initiatives
  • Maintain knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice
  • Evaluate your own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations
  • Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (required for employees hired after September 1, 2020; those hired prior to that date are grandfathered)
  • Registered Nurse License—New York State
  • Current and valid BLS certification through the American Heart Association
  • Current and valid ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP as required by population, within one year of hire
  • Knowledge of standards of practice for all areas of patient care
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in nursing

Compensation

  • Salary range: $125,056.68 to $149,806.68 annually
  • Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need
  • Salary range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits
