Registered Nurse - A8 – Ortho / Oncology - Med/Surg

Shoreline Hospital's medical-surgical unit is seeking a Registered Nurse for the A8 level position supporting Ortho, Oncology, and Med/Surg patients. This role provides care for patients with elective surgeries, fractures from the emergency department, and medical overflow. The inpatient oncology department is the only acute inpatient unit of its kind in the region, caring for patients with new or existing cancer diagnoses, administering chemotherapy and hematology interventions, managing chemotherapy-related symptoms, and treating secondary diagnoses related to cancer.

Responsibilities

• Practice independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of clinical situations
• Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocol; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education; identify issues and resources
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to manage clinical situations
• Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
• Practice consistently with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of employment or compact
• BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 7 PM to 7 AM shift
