This position is a Registered Nurse role in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Echocardiography & Electrophysiology (EP) department. You will provide routine and complex nursing care to cardiac patients, working independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant clinical aspects. The role involves managing contingencies, making appropriate assignments, and delegating to other care providers as needed to manage the clinical situation effectively.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with your level of practice
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess patient learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources
- Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
- Comply with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in state of employment or compact
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) required at time of hire
- ACLS certification required
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
- One year of experience in a critical care setting preferred, but new graduates are accepted
- New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member
- All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements
Certification Timeline
Credential grace periods depend on your experience level:
Experienced Associates (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years):
- ACLS: Within 30 days of hire
- PALS: Within 30 days of hire
- TNCC: Within 60 days of hire
- TCAR: Within 60 days of hire
- NRP: Within 30 days of hire
- AWHONN Intermediate FHM: Within 30 days of hire
- STABLE: Within 30 days of hire
New Graduates and Experienced Associates New to the Specialty:
- ACLS: Within 90 days of hire
- PALS: Within 90 days of hire
- TNCC: Within 18 months of hire
- TCAR: Within 18 months of hire
- NRP: Within 60 days of hire
- AWHONN Intermediate FHM: Within 60 days of hire
- STABLE: Within 60 days of hire
