REGISTERED NURSE A

The Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals seeks a Registered Nurse A to provide professional nursing care to patients and clients in an inpatient or community service facility. You will develop and deliver direct nursing care by assessing patient needs, planning and implementing treatment, and evaluating outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care within inpatient or community service settings
• Participate in the intake process by interviewing, assessing patients, and formulating nursing diagnoses and goals
• Apply the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in patient care
• Provide medical and nursing therapies, health care instructions, and counseling to clients and families
• Interpret nursing and health care needs to interdisciplinary team members
• Act as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team
• Document interactions with clients according to agency policy
• Communicate health, medical, and nursing information to other team members
• Provide ongoing instructions to patients and staff
• Monitor the health status of patients and clients
• Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses, graduate nurses, student nurses, attendants, mental health workers, and auxiliary ward personnel

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Active Rhode Island RN license
• Physical ability to perform assigned duties as evidenced by a physician's certificate at the time of appointment
• Commitment to maintain nursing competency through regular participation in continuing nursing education programs, workshops, seminars, and conferences

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• One weekend per month

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $75,864.00 - $133,109.00
• State of Rhode Island employee benefits available through the Office of Employee Benefits
• Direct deposit required for all employees hired after September 30, 2014
