Registered Nurse (6320)

Regional One Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care to patients within assigned areas. You will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care according to medical regimens, established standards, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Initiate patient assessments based on presenting problems, physician's medical diagnosis, and functional health framework
• Collect key information from patients, families, laboratory reports, and other medical records
• Ensure all necessary consents for treatment and procedures are signed and identification procedures are completed
• Determine nursing diagnoses and care priorities with consideration for patient teaching, discharge planning, and developmental needs
• Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, and clinical judgments
• Demonstrate knowledge, technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills to provide age-specific care and manage clinical competency
• Complete ongoing assessments and re-prioritize care based on new information and patient condition
• Perform therapeutic nursing interventions as ordered by the physician, including medication administration, treatments, and immunizations
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; position and drape patients appropriately
• Implement pain control interventions
• Monitor patient responses during treatment and procedures, including vital signs
• Initiate corrective action when monitoring or life support equipment indicates adverse symptoms such as respiratory or cardiac insufficiency
• Coordinate patient referrals and provide patient education
• Document care based on standards of practice and clinical priorities, including assessments, interventions, and patient responses
• Respond to and participate in medical emergencies; initiate and assist with CPR/BLS as required
• Develop and implement patient teaching outlines including objectives, content, teaching strategies, and evaluation of progress
• Maintain patient medical records and utilize patient computer systems to enter and retrieve data
• Confer and collaborate with patients, families, and hospital staff regarding all aspects of patient needs in a customer-responsive manner
• Provide instruction, assign, and supervise LPNs and support personnel; assist in orientation and supervision of new staff and students
• Transport monitored patients, specimens, equipment, and supplies to various areas
• Collaborate with forensic team and security to provide a safe environment for patients in custody
• Maintain a clean, orderly, safe environment and adhere to compliance, quality improvement, safety, and infection control standards
• Prepare and maintain required records, reports, and files for administrative and compliance purposes
• Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements
• Attend staff meetings, mandatory in-services, and continuing education as required
• Contribute to annual review of unit-based scope statement and determination of important aspects of care
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain required competencies

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing school or program
• RN - Registered Nurse state licensure or compact state licensure to work in Tennessee (required upon hire)
• BCLS - Basic Life Support certification (required upon hire)
• Experience caring for patients in an inpatient setting
• Qualified by education, training, or experience to work with school age, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient populations as specialty assignment dictates

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
