Montefiore Nyack Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 4 Maze Medical/Surgical unit in Nyack, New York. This position provides direct nursing care to patients of all ages using the nursing process and established standards of practice. You will manage, delegate, and coordinate patient care while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Clinical Setting

The 4 Maze unit is a medical/surgical nursing department. You will care for patients across the lifespan, from neonates to geriatric patients, and will be expected to understand and address their developmental, cognitive, biopsychosocial, religious, and cultural needs.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically provide nursing care within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice
  • Integrate principles of patient safety in direct nursing care and medication management
  • Adhere to established system-wide communication standards and processes
  • Participate in designated forums addressing patient care, patient education, policy and procedures, safety, and clinical outcomes
  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skills related to your area of practice
  • Demonstrate accountability for clinical competence and age-specific competency requirements
  • Create positive interactions with patients, families, and visitors from diverse cultures, values, and beliefs
  • Acknowledge customer concerns and take corrective action
  • Participate in department and hospital-wide activities that improve processes and outcomes
  • Demonstrate fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies
  • Complete assigned projects and tasks within projected timeframes
  • Respond to patient call lights promptly and provide timely feedback to patients, visitors, and coworkers
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to hospital dress code policy
  • Promote a safe and clean work environment for employees, patients, families, and visitors

Schedule

  • Shift: Day shift, 7 AM to 7 PM
  • Hours: 11.5 hours per day, 18.75 hours per pay period
  • Days vary; weekends and holidays required
  • On-call required for the following areas: OR, PACU, and Cath Lab

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse license from the New York State Board of Nursing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association required within 6 months of hire/transfer (or within 3 months if assigned to PACU)

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of medical/surgical nursing experience
  • National certification in your area of practice

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $55.40 and above per hour
  • Note: The displayed rate is the hiring rate but may be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education, or other relevant factors.

This position is represented by the NYSNA (New York State Nurses Association) bargaining unit. For transfer requirements, please refer to the NYSNA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
