Registered Nurse 2

This Registered Nurse 2 position at General Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia provides direct patient care in a general acute care setting. You will manage complex patients with minimal assistance, demonstrating strong clinical skills and critical thinking to identify and meet patient needs and achieve positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate consistent use of the nursing process in daily practice
• Manage complex patients with minimal assistance
• Independently perform advanced clinical skills
• Assist colleagues in developing skills using teaching and learning principles
• Initiate and demonstrate behaviors that result in positive patient outcomes through group process
• Identify and implement changes to your own practice based on performance improvement and quality improvement outcomes
• Expand your understanding of the research process and its application to nursing practice
• Assist with unit quality improvement and research projects
• Identify actual legal and ethical issues and implement appropriate nursing actions
• Maintain and document all required education
• Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations
• Comply with attendance policy
• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
• Perform work in a cost-effective manner
• Work in accordance with departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations
• Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures
• Perform related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing or completion of a formal nursing program
• One year of RN experience
• Active Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support certification (required within 30 days of hire)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required within one year of hire)
• Competency validation through initial orientation and ongoing assessment to independently perform assigned tasks
• Knowledge and ability to obtain and interpret patient information in terms of patient needs
• Knowledge of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served
• Understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients in your assigned area

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Schedule

• Night shift
• 72 hours per pay period
• Availability for various shift work and on-call situations as needed
