Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute is seeking two Registered Nurses to provide direct patient care in a mental health and substance abuse services setting. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Nashville, Tennessee.
As a Registered Nurse 2, you will work under general supervision and provide nursing care of average difficulty across a range of clinical circumstances. You may be assigned to work days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends. This is the working level class in the Registered Nurse series and differs from supervisory or advanced clinical roles.
Clinical Setting
This position is located at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute in Davidson County, serving patients in a mental health and substance abuse services environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care and procedures according to physician orders and nursing protocol, including administering medication, evaluating side effects and medication effectiveness, maintaining health care equipment and supplies, tracking drugs and instruments, and performing basic life support and CPR
- Participate in emergency response settings as needed
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments according to protocol, collecting patient and family health history data
- Perform diagnostic tests on collected specimens to determine patient health status
- Compare assessment data to established acceptable ranges to identify abnormalities
- Determine if patient goals and interventions are effective
- Document, complete, and maintain patient health and medication records
- Make adjustments to the plan of care, including changes to patient goals and nursing interventions
- Explain tests, procedures, and results to appropriate individuals according to protocol, communicating with both internal and external entities
- Educate patients, families, individuals, groups, and others about the health care plan as appropriate
Required Qualifications
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- Valid motor vehicle operator license may be required
Driver Standards
Candidates must meet the following minimum driver qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
- For the past five years, driver record must not include: driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than 4 moving violations

Compensation
- Monthly Salary: $4,562.00 - $6,825.00
- Annual Salary: $54,744.00 - $81,900.00
- The approved hiring rate for RN 2 at this facility is $6,500.00 - $6,658.00 monthly, determined by amount of verifiable nursing experience
