Registered Infusion Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Oncology @ North Fulton

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Registered Infusion Nurse (RN) to join the Outpatient Oncology team at North Fulton. In this role, you will administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies to patients in an outpatient infusion center setting. You will function under the direction of the Manager Infusion Therapy and serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff.

Clinical Setting

You will work primarily in an outpatient infusion center, though alternate settings may occur. Local travel is required, and float staff may be required to float between Cobb Hospital departments based on need. All sites are within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies for treating malignant and nonmalignant conditions
• Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking
• Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care that is culturally aware and adapted to population-specific characteristics
• Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate teaching methods and keeping patient goals central to the plan of care
• Address patients' biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs
• Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care through interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation
• Maintain current clinical practice standards including chemotherapy and targeted therapy competencies
• Meet annual requirements for chemotherapy competence
• Participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects, and continued education
• Serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues
• Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement initiatives
• Participate in the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members
• Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
• Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (Single State or Multi-state Compact)
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Basic Life Support)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing practice in direct patient care or completion of Wellstar RN New Grad Residency
• Chemotherapy competency through an approved provider (Oncology Nursing Society or WellStar Oncology Nursing Readiness and Safety) required upon hire
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task and function in stressful and emergency situations
• Strong detail orientation to patient care activities and nursing skills
• Time management skills
• Computer skills including typing, scanning, using mouse, and other computing and device use
• Knowledge of and practice within parameters outlined in the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act
• Ability to be trained to handle hazardous drugs per USP guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Associate or Diploma in Nursing is minimum required)
• Minimum 2 years of outpatient oncology nursing experience
• Chemotherapy competency prior to hire
• Specialty oncology certification or 12 continuing education credits annually

Schedule

• Monday through Thursday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• Day shift
