The opportunity

Job Description

Recovery Center of Maryland is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join a multidisciplinary clinical team providing residential substance use disorder treatment to adults in Baltimore. You will provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing behavioral health care to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, working collaboratively with nursing, medical, clinical, and residential staff to promote integrated, person-centered care and successful recovery outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
  • Assess and treat co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  • Develop individualized psychiatric treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications within the scope of Maryland law and professional practice standards
  • Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, adherence, and potential medication interactions
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric follow-up and medication-management visits
  • Evaluate clients experiencing changes in psychiatric status and recommend appropriate interventions or higher level of care when indicated
  • Assess suicide, self-harm, violence, withdrawal, and other behavioral health risks and participate in crisis intervention and safety planning
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, counselors, therapists, case managers, peers, and other treatment team members
  • Participate in treatment planning, case consultation, and care coordination
  • Provide client and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, symptoms, recovery, and treatment recommendations
  • Complete clinical documentation accurately and within established organizational and regulatory timeframes
  • Support medication reconciliation, continuity of care, discharge planning, and coordination with community psychiatric providers
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, Maryland regulatory requirements, HIPAA, and applicable federal and professional standards
  • Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, compliance, and clinical performance initiatives as requested

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse authority/licensure appropriate to practice in Maryland
  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited program
  • Current national certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Current prescriptive authority and ability to obtain and maintain required DEA registration as applicable
  • Current professional liability coverage or eligibility for employer-sponsored coverage
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, medication-management, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health treatment team
