We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant to join our mental health team in Rockford. In this role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to patients with conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health diagnoses. You will conduct psychiatric evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced treatment modalities including Spravato and IV ketamine therapy, as well as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including medical history and mental status examinations
- Assist in diagnosing mental health conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising psychiatrists
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring effective management of side effects and patient adherence
- Conduct thorough evaluations to assess appropriateness for Spravato and IV ketamine treatments, provide patient education, and monitor vital signs during office-based treatments
- Ensure patient safety and effective management throughout specialized treatment processes
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling to patients using evidence-based techniques
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies
- Maintain comprehensive understanding of all treatment modalities offered to ensure individualized care and appropriate referrals
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including therapists, social workers, providers, and clinical assistants
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, completing and signing all treatment notes within 48 hours of appointment
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed
- Work in collaboration with the psychiatrist and TMS provider to conduct follow-ups, motor threshold mapping, and evaluation of new patients for TMS
- Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric medicine and maintain required certifications
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program, OR Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health
- Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant with psychiatric certification (if required), OR current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and clinical skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and confidentiality protocols, including HIPAA
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in psychiatric or mental health settings
- Ability to learn and maintain Electronic Health Record systems, with Tebra experience as a plus
