Blackbird Health is seeking Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners for a prestigious 9-12 month residency program beginning September 2026. This program is designed for recent graduates or those with less than one year of work experience as a PMHNP to transition from graduate school to professional practice in child and adolescent mental health care.

You will deliver comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults in an outpatient setting. Working under the supervision of the Director of the Residency Program, you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including psychotherapists to develop integrated treatment plans and ensure the highest quality of care.

Clinical Setting

Blackbird Health delivers virtual and in-person mental health services across Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey. You will work primarily from the Frederick, Maryland clinic up to 3 days per week as needed, with a hybrid model combining in-person and telehealth work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses, creating personalized treatment plans for children and adolescents
  • Prescribe medications and other treatments as appropriate
  • Collaborate with psychotherapists and other healthcare professionals on integrated treatment planning and medication management
  • Provide education and consultation to patients and their families
  • Manage diagnostic testing, including digital and lab results
  • Meet regularly with your residency cohort and supervisor to discuss progress and challenges
  • Participate in weekly team and supervisory clinical meetings
  • Maintain thorough, confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Perform other clinical-related activities as assigned

Schedule

A minimum of 12 of your 40 weekly hours must be during peak "after school hours," defined as after 4 pm ET during the week or any time on weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited nursing program (PMHNP or Master's in NP) with graduation within the last approximately 12 months or less than 1 year of work experience as a PMHNP
  • Active PMHNP license and DEA registration in New Jersey (or on track to receive by residency start date)
  • National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Ability to work in person at the Frederick, Maryland clinic up to 3 days per week as needed
