Relief Mental Health is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to provide comprehensive mental health care across our expanding network of offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Colorado. In this role, you will conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health conditions, develop individualized treatment plans, and manage psychotropic medications in collaboration with supervising psychiatrists.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including medical history and mental status examinations
- Assist in diagnosing mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and related disorders
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising psychiatrists
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring effective management of side effects and patient adherence
- Conduct thorough evaluations to assess appropriateness for Spravato treatment, provide patient education regarding expectations, and monitor patient vital signs during office-based treatment while ensuring patient safety and effective management
- Conduct thorough evaluations to assess appropriateness for IV ketamine treatment (if applicable), provide patient education regarding expectations, and monitor patient vital signs during office-based treatment while ensuring patient safety and effective management
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling to patients using evidence-based techniques
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies
- Maintain thorough understanding of all treatment modalities offered by Relief Mental Health to ensure individualized care and appropriate referrals
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including therapists, social workers, providers, clinical assistants, and support staff to ensure comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes; complete and sign all treatment notes within 48 hours of the appointment
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed
- Work in tandem with the psychiatrist or TMS provider to conduct follow-ups, motor threshold mapping, and evaluation of new patients for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
- Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric medicine and maintain required certifications
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and clinical skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and confidentiality protocols, including HIPAA
- Experience or ability to learn and maintain Electronic Health Record systems
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite
