This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive psychiatric services as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. You will diagnose psychiatric illness, implement pharmacological treatment, and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary medical and behavioral health team to ensure quality care for adults, adolescents, and children experiencing behavioral health disorders.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric services to clients during scheduled hours, including outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management
- Assess, diagnose, and treat adults, adolescents, and children experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disorders
- Prescribe, recommend, and discontinue drugs and treatments to address mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act
- Collaborate with and educate guardians, relatives, and significant others regarding clients' conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate
- Examine clients and order laboratory or diagnostic tests to assess general physical conditions and mental health status
- Complete medical records in a timely and accurate manner, including assessments, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries
- Confer with professional staff and other agencies or providers regarding care and treatment for patients receiving psychiatric services
- Participate in monthly interdisciplinary team meetings and behavioral health and integrated medicine team meetings
- Engage in a collaborative practice agreement with a partnering physician at Advantage Care Health Centers
- Comply with social distancing protocols, adhere to personal protective equipment requirements, and follow infection control procedures
Required Qualifications
- Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
- Master's degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
- Minimum of 3-5 years of post-certification experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Active New York State licensure
- Healthcare Provider CPR/AED Certification
- National Provider Identifier
- RNP National Certification
- Twenty-four (24) Continued Medical Education (CME) credits per credentialing cycle (two-year period)
- Strong oral, written, and organizational skills
- Ability to independently and efficiently navigate electronic health records (EHR)
