Job Description

The College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University/Northwest Community Health Alliance Community Health Center is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to manage mental health care in West Palm Beach, FL. This role provides psychiatric mental health services across multiple clinic sites and mobile health units serving Palm Beach County, working with patients, families, and groups across the lifespan in community-based and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric mental health care and coordinate patient care to ensure smooth progression of medical evaluation and treatment
  • Serve as a preceptor for students in the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner concentration
  • Participate in clients' plans of care and interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Participate in mobile health unit committee meetings as needed
  • Discuss clinical findings with attending physicians, consulting staff, and inter-professional medical service providers
  • Handle administrative tasks related to the role
  • Travel to various clinic sites and group homes as required
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Clinical Setting

This position operates within an academic health center community clinic model, providing services at FAU/NCHA/CHC sites and mobile partner locations throughout Palm Beach County.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Nursing
  • Two years of appropriate nursing experience
  • Active Registered Nurse License from Florida Department of Health
  • Valid Florida Driver's License (required for travel between clinic sites and group homes)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment planning for diverse populations across the lifespan in outpatient, community-based, or mobile care environments
  • Prior teaching, clinical instruction, or mentorship experience supporting graduate nursing students with ability to foster professional development in psychiatric-mental health practice
  • Strong collaboration skills with interdisciplinary health teams including physicians, behavioral health specialists, and community partners to support integrated patient care delivery
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation, regulatory compliance, and patient confidentiality standards including HIPAA and academic/healthcare organizational policies
  • Experience with program coordination, committee participation, and operational support within academic health centers, community clinics, or mobile healthcare services

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Some nights and weekends as needed
  • This is an in-person position
