Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Extern - PRN

Join Parkridge Valley Child & Adolescent Campus as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Extern and gain hands-on experience in the nursing role while supporting a specialized behavioral health population. As part of HCA Healthcare, one of the nation's leading healthcare providers, you'll work alongside experienced nursing staff to deliver safe, compassionate care to children and adolescents in a psychiatric and mental health setting.

This is a PRN (as-needed) position that provides valuable clinical experience as you progress through your nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign monitoring, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene measures
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and competency
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure coordinated, seamless patient care
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment
• Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan

Clinical Setting

Parkridge Valley Child & Adolescent Campus specializes in behavioral health services for children and adolescents, including addictive disorder treatment services. The facility is part of a four-campus system that also includes adult and senior behavioral health services.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program
• Valid driver's license
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
