This position is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner role at Southern Illinois University Healthcare System (SIUHS). You will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients, working collaboratively with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure optimal quality of care.

Responsibilities

  • Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations
  • Initiate, document, and communicate plans of care
  • Perform daily patient rounds
  • Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests
  • Interpret laboratory and test results
  • Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers
  • Ensure complete screening and preparation of patients
  • Document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals on patient charts
  • Inform patients of necessary post-discharge care instructions
  • Participate in performance improvement, research, and educational activities

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program
  • National Board Certification in psychiatric/mental health specialty area
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
  • Collaborative practice agreement with designated protocols filed with NYS Department of Education OR collaborative relationship attestation as per the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act 2015
  • Current BLS certification
