Regency Hospital, a critical illness recovery hospital in Golden Valley, Minnesota, is seeking an experienced Procedures Nurse (RN) to join our team. This full-time position focuses on managing and maintaining a variety of bedside and operating room procedures for chronic, critically ill patients requiring extended recovery.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a specialized procedures and operating room environment within a post-ICU recovery hospital. The role involves supervising nursing assistants, students, and orientees while maintaining high standards of patient care and procedural excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain procedures including endoscopies, PEG insertions, J tube placement, bronchoscopies, chest tube insertions, thoracentesis, paracentesis, cystoscopies, tracheostomy, simple debridement, PICC insertions, central venous line placement, temporary hemodialysis catheter insertion, hemodynamic monitoring device placement, arterial line insertion, and moderate sedation monitoring
  • Prevent, monitor for, and manage malignant hyperthermia
  • Adhere to all operative and invasive procedure policies, standards, and relevant bundles
  • Follow all documentation procedures and review physician documentation for compliance
  • Perform non-procedural duties including central line care, wound care assistance, admissions, patient teaching, IV care and insertions, and patient transport
  • Maintain and implement cost containment measures
  • Initiate communication with the Chief Nursing Officer regarding areas requiring feedback
  • Participate as a member of QAPI and Infection Control Committees
  • Provide orientation, training, and development for new staff
  • Provide timely in-services as needed
  • Provide medication control in collaboration with the Pharmacy department
  • Maintain departmental logs and records including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative records, daily logs, surgical/procedural log books, temperature logs, humidity logs, sterilization logs, and specimen logs
  • Maintain equipment and sterilization procedures
  • Manage all aspects of the procedure room including decontamination, processing, sterilization, and storage of supplies and instruments
  • Handle scheduling and supervision of invasive procedures
  • Monitor medication and controlled substances
  • Monitor and manage all procedure room emergency equipment
  • Manage inventory of supplies needed for procedures
  • Perform infection control management
  • Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient assessment and monitoring
  • Report and manage changes in patient condition
  • Comply with policies and standards of care to prevent and manage adverse events

Required Qualifications

  • Valid State Registered Nurse License
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification (required or must be completed prior to end of 90-day orientation period)
  • Competency with rhythm strip analysis and interpretation

Preferred Qualifications

  • PICC qualification
  • Operative or procedure room experience
  • Knowledge of monitors, sedation procedures, and wound care

Schedule and Compensation

  • Full-time position
  • Compensation: $40.69 to $56.19 per hour based on experience
