PRN Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology Clinician @ Cherokee Health Park

Wellstar is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to work as an Oncology Infusion Therapy Clinician at Cherokee Health Park. In this role, you will provide specialized care in an outpatient infusion center, administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies to patients with malignant and nonmalignant conditions. You will work under the direction of the Manager of Infusion Therapy or other designated leader, serving as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff.

Clinical Setting

You will work primarily in an outpatient infusion center, though alternate settings may occur. Local travel is required, and you may be asked to float between Cobb Hospital departments based on staffing needs. All sites are within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies according to current clinical practice standards
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and implement individualized, evidence-based patient care plans
• Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care that is culturally aware and age-appropriate
• Address patients' biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs
• Partner with patients and their families to set goals and provide education using appropriate teaching methods
• Coordinate safe, quality patient care through interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation
• Maintain a respectful, inclusive clinical environment and demonstrate teamwork with the healthcare team
• Participate in staff meetings, in-services, continuing education, and special projects
• Serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and research utilization activities
• Support the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes
• Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• PRN (as needed based on staffing requirements)
• Day shift

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (single state or multi-state compact)
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Basic Life Support)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing practice in direct patient care, or completion of Wellstar RN New Grad Residency
• Chemotherapy competency through an approved provider (Oncology Nursing Society or Wellstar Oncology Nursing Readiness and Safety program) required upon hire
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask and function effectively in stressful and emergency situations
• Strong attention to detail in patient care activities and nursing skills
• Time management and personal organization skills
• Computer skills including typing, scanning, and device use
• Ability to be trained to handle hazardous drugs per USP guidelines
• Knowledge of and practice within parameters outlined in the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act
• Delegation skills as defined by Georgia law and Wellstar policy

Education

• Associate degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of outpatient oncology nursing experience
• Chemotherapy competency prior to hire
• Specialty oncology certification or 12 continuing education credits annually
