This PRN position supports a behavioral health department with a focus on clinical, operational, and administrative excellence. You will provide direct patient care to individuals with psychiatric, chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, and geriatric needs in a community-based behavioral health setting.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and plan care within established timeframes, documenting findings according to hospital policies
- Oversee and supervise the shift, delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, and meal supervision
- Demonstrate leadership by ensuring nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond accordingly, including notifying the physician when necessary
- Administer medications according to hospital policy
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients
- Deliver quality nursing care to ensure treatment plan goals are properly executed
- Interact with patients using empathy, dignity, and respect
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Current RN license as required by state regulations
- CPR certification (required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
- De-escalation certification (required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility
- Direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients
- Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, and treatment planning
- Experience communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities
