Haven Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical services on weekends. In this role, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with mental health and substance abuse issues. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, order and interpret laboratory tests, and provide patient education in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal, and State regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patient needs
- Prescribe medications and manage pharmacological interventions
- Provide emergency services and psycho-social examinations as applicable
- Develop appropriate treatment plans and manage patient care with proper evaluation
- Consult with patients and families with multiple and complex disorders
- Work collaboratively with primary healthcare providers
- Perform invasive procedures as needed
- Order and interpret laboratory test results
- Educate patients on health-promoting lifestyle choices and disease, injury, and illness prevention
- Prepare medical records and refer patients in accordance with regulations and organizational policies
- Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule
- PRN (as-needed) position
- Weekends required
- Must be flexible with work schedule
Work Environment
This position involves frequent interruptions and occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. The role can be fast-paced and stressful, requiring the ability to cope mentally and physically with the atmosphere. Approximately 90% or more of time is spent inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing
- Current RN license in the state where practicing
- Certification to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the state where practicing
- Licensure corresponding to specialized practice area
- Sound knowledge of nursing practice
- Competence in interpersonal communications with excellent verbal and written skills
- Knowledge of Medicare and regulatory and credentialing criteria standards
- Knowledge of safety standards and spread of organisms
- Knowledge of the adult learning process
- Competence in the provision of nursing care
- Ability to solve practical problems and utilize appropriate steps for problem resolution
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
Certifications and Training
- Current CPR certification
- Completion of an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program
