Recovery Innovations is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the clinical team at our Crisis-Recovery Response Center in Peoria, Arizona. In this PRN role, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse as part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to individuals in crisis experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
You will provide direct patient care, education, and advocacy while identifying medical concerns and coordinating with physicians and nursing staff. This position requires strong clinical documentation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with individuals who may be agitated or in crisis.
Clinical Setting
Crisis-Recovery Response Center in Peoria, Arizona. You will work in a behavioral health facility setting with individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
Responsibilities
- Provide education regarding diabetic care, psychiatric medications, and other medical needs to enhance individual health and wellbeing
- Coordinate care including assisting individuals with making medical and other provider appointments
- Assist with the intake process
- Collect blood or urine specimens and arrange transport to the lab as ordered
- Monitor care of individuals including medication monitoring under RN supervision
- Oversee and maintain medication records in accordance with policy and state regulations
- Complete clinical documentation as required
- Identify the need for medical attention and alert the physician and/or RN of medical concerns
- Provide support to medical assistants and other staff as needed, including treatment and discharge planning
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Schedule
PRN (as-needed) position. You are required to work a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month. Shifts are available 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited LPN program
- Current and valid state LPN license
- Minimum one year of experience working in a behavioral health setting
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications including indications, common side effects, reactions, and interactions
- Ability to work with agitated guests in crisis and their families to implement behavioral management interventions
- Ability to pass de-escalation training as defined by state requirements
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Effective listening skills
- Excellent clinical documentation skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough comprehension of psychiatric nursing
State-Specific Requirements
Arizona: Must be 21 years or older.
Louisiana: Must be 24 years or older.
Ohio: CPR/First Aid Certification required.
Background and Screening Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old (or as required by state regulations)
- Must pass a seven-year background check
- Must pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculosis testing if applicable
- Must pass education verification check
- Must obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states
- Must pass a three-year motor vehicle report and meet minimum eligibility requirements of insurance carrier if driving is required for the position
Driving Requirements
If driving is required for this position, you must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy. If not qualified to drive per policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking
- Handling, finger dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination
- May work close to the eyes with substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and fingers
- Use of corrected vision, color vision, and auditory senses
- May be required to lift up to 25 pounds
Additional Requirements
- Travel required based on business need
- A Nursing Competency Checklist must be completed as part of new hire onboarding
- Successful completion of comprehensive credentialing process if applicable
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly wage: $32.00 to $34.00 per hour
