The opportunity

Job Description

Maple Landing Assisted Living in Mapleton, Utah is seeking a PRN Certified Nursing Assistant to provide supportive care services to residents in our assisted living facility. This is a non-exempt, hourly position reporting to the Resident Care Coordinator or Designee.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an assisted living facility (ALF) environment, supporting the clinical team in delivering care to senior residents. The facility emphasizes family involvement, connection, and compassionate care while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide certified nursing assistant services to assigned residents in accordance with individualized care plans, facility policies, and supervisor direction
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, and lifts using proper body mechanics
  • Coordinate dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including setup, cleanup, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake
  • Deliver nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and assist with intake as necessary
  • Assist with weighing residents according to facility policy and report significant weight changes to nursing staff and supervisors
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' skin condition, including pressure areas, skin breakdown, or skin tears
  • Assist nursing staff with toileting programs and other nursing activities
  • Complete daily flow sheets documenting that assigned tasks were completed and resident progress as directed
  • Keep nursing staff and supervisors informed of any factors that interfere with assigned work, such as resident refusal or reassignment
  • Report any changes in residents' conditions to the nurse and supervisor immediately
  • Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information in verbal, written, and electronic communications
  • Follow all infection control policies and procedures
  • Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings
  • Report work-related injuries and occupational exposures immediately to supervisor
  • Attend care plan meetings for assigned residents
  • Participate in quality assurance and facility assessment activities as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing with the state
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Current Food Handler Permit (when applicable)
  • No disciplinary action in effect against certification
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to lift, move, push, or pull a minimum of 35 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform overhead lifting and other common physical movements as needed
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and stoop for extended periods
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to perform resident care
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations
  • Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace
  • Must meet general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and verification of immunity status to various infectious diseases

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or assisted living facility (ALF)

Working Conditions

  • Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions including AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis
  • May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, and odors throughout the day
  • May encounter reactions from dust, tobacco smoke, disinfectants, and other air contaminants
  • May be subject to hostile or emotional residents, family members, visitors, or personnel
  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary
  • PRN (as-needed) position with flexible scheduling

Conditions of Employment

  • Agreement to abide by all standards, policies, and procedures of the facility, including the compliance and ethics program, is a condition of employment
  • Compliance will be a factor in evaluating job performance
  • Violations, including failure to report violations, will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination
  • Must complete all assigned training and skills competency as a condition of employment
  • Must report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator
  • Must report noncompliance with policies, procedures, or regulations and any breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel
