PRN Ambulatory Procedural Registered Nurse ( Huntsman Mental Health Procedure : IV Ketamine, Spravato, ECT, Pre-OP , Post-OP, Infusion

University of Utah Health is seeking a PRN Ambulatory Procedural Registered Nurse for the Huntsman Mental Health Institute. This position supports patients before, during, and after diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in an outpatient setting, with a focus on IV ketamine, Spravato, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and pre-operative and post-operative care.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an ambulatory procedural environment at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, a part of University of Utah Health, a Level 1 Trauma Center nationally recognized for academic research, quality standards, and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in outpatient procedural settings
• Support patients during procedural preparation, monitoring, and recovery
• Administer or support sedation as credentialed
• Monitor patients continuously during procedures
• Coordinate care with procedural teams to ensure patient safety and effective workflow
• Manage timely intervention across varying levels of procedural complexity and patient acuity
• Facilitate patient discharge

Career Levels

This position may be filled at multiple career levels based on your qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skill set. Final placement and compensation will be determined at the time of offer.

Nurse Level 1 (N1) – Supervised Learner: Entry-level nurse developing foundational clinical skills while providing patient care under close supervision.

Nurse Level 2 (N2) – Independent Practitioner: Developing nurse who independently manages routine patient care and escalates complex clinical needs as appropriate.

Nurse Level 3 (N3) – Confident Practitioner: Experienced nurse who independently manages typical patient complexity, anticipates needs, and adapts care to clinical variations.

Required Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if relocating to Utah
• Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if not changing residency to Utah
• Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform the following: carrying, climbing, color determination, crawling, far vision, lifting, listening, manual dexterity, near vision, pulling and/or pushing, reaching, sitting, speaking, standing, stooping and crouching, tasting or smelling, and walking.
