Prisma Health is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Pediatric Hospitalists team in Richland, South Carolina. In this role, you will provide quality treatment, referral, and follow-up care to pediatric patients in a hospital setting under physician supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform health histories and physical examinations on pediatric patients
- Provide individual and group health education
- Order diagnostic laboratory tests and radiological tests, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, and contrast studies with physician approval
- Interpret physical findings, laboratory results, and imaging studies; make diagnoses and formulate treatment plans
- Prescribe medications in accordance with South Carolina state licensing laws
- Refer complex cases to the supervising physician when patient conditions exceed your scope of practice or level of training
- Provide emergency care to prevent loss of life, limb, or eyesight and institute emergency procedures within your level of training
- Support clinic operations by participating in policy development, operational improvement, and implementation of new policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a Physician Assistant program approved by an accredited medical body such as CAHEA, the American Medical Association, or the Association of Medical Colleges
- NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in South Carolina
- BLS certification
- Knowledge of a wide variety of medical conditions, diseases, and types of injuries
- Excellent communication skills
- No previous experience required

- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Certificate of Added Qualification in Emergency Medicine (NCCPA CAQ in EM)
