Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner - Healogics Wound Care, Part-time, Days

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our Healogics Wound Care department. This advanced practice provider role combines inpatient rounding and hospital outpatient ambulatory clinic work, providing comprehensive wound care management across our healthcare system.

Clinical Setting

You will work at CDH and Marianjoy, providing care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in wound care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of physicians and healthcare professionals.

Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours per week, day shift. The schedule alternates between 3 days one week and 2 days the following week.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments including patient histories and physical examinations
• Provide direct clinical care to assigned patient populations
• Prescribe and order medications, therapies, laboratory tests, imaging, and procedures according to clinical privileges
• Evaluate patients to determine need for additional healthcare services
• Document all care, education, and procedures in the medical record
• Provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families
• Refer to other disciplines as appropriate and serve as a consultant in areas of expertise
• Integrate evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise in clinical decision-making
• Maintain professional appearance, manner, and presentation
• Advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the community
• Maintain all required certifications and continuing education for licensure and privileging
• Participate in unit, departmental, divisional, or hospital committees and task forces
• Mentor graduate students in advanced practice and patient care
• Develop and participate in continuing education programs for staff
• Serve as a preceptor and role model to students
• Provide formal education to internal and external groups in your specialty
• Participate in quality improvement and research initiatives relevant to your patient population

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited school of nursing OR Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
• For APRNs: Acute care certification required (inpatient experience as an NP may be considered in lieu of acute care certification)
• Current RN license in Illinois
• Current APRN license in Illinois
• APRN certification by a national certifying body approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board
• OR current PA license in Illinois
• Ability to apply for controlled substance license and DEA number
• Privileged and credentialed through Northwestern Medicine Medical Staff Office
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
