Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner - Healogics Wound Care, Full-time, Days

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our Healogics Wound Care department. This Advanced Practice Provider will deliver clinical care in a mix of inpatient and outpatient settings, working primarily in hospital outpatient ambulatory clinics with some inpatient rounding at CDH and Marianjoy.

Clinical Setting

• Hospital outpatient ambulatory clinic with inpatient rounding
• Locations: CDH and Marianjoy
• Patient population: Wound care patients requiring comprehensive assessment and management

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• No call, weekends, or nights
• Full-time position

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments including patient histories and physical examinations
• Provide direct clinical care to assigned patient populations
• Prescribe and order medications, therapies, laboratory tests, imaging, and procedures according to clinical privileges
• Evaluate patients to determine need for additional healthcare services
• Document all care, education, and procedures in the medical record
• Provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families
• Refer to other disciplines as appropriate and serve as consultant in areas of expertise
• Integrate research-based knowledge and clinical expertise in clinical decision-making
• Advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the community
• Mentor graduate students in advanced practice and patient care
• Serve as preceptor and role model to students
• Participate in quality improvement and research initiatives pertinent to wound care
• Participate in unit, departmental, divisional, or hospital committees and task forces as appropriate
• Provide formal education to internal and external groups in your specialty
• Maintain professional appearance, manner, and presentation

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited school of nursing OR Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
• For Nurse Practitioners: Current Illinois RN license, current Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license, and certification as an APRN by a national certifying body approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board. Acute care certification required for APRNs; inpatient experience as an NP may be considered in lieu of acute care certification. Once licensed, may apply for controlled substance license and DEA number.
• For Physician Assistants: Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program and current Illinois PA license. Once licensed, may apply for controlled substance license and DEA number.
• Privileged and credentialed through the Northwestern Medicine Medical Staff Office
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

• Wound care experience
