Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner (Radiation Oncology)

Urology Centers of Alabama is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Radiation Oncology team in Birmingham, Alabama. This full-time position offers the opportunity to develop or expand expertise in Radiation Oncology while working within a collaborative, physician-led practice that emphasizes excellent cancer care and patient-centered treatment.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a well-established Radiation Oncology program that has invested significantly in refining clinical workflows, operational processes, and support structures. The practice is led by experienced radiation oncologists and staffed by experienced clinical professionals committed to a collaborative, supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Radiation Oncology clinic
• Perform follow-up and survivorship visits
• Evaluate patients during and following radiation treatment
• Assess and manage treatment-related symptoms and side effects
• Support urgent, add-on, and referral visits as appropriate
• Review laboratory studies, imaging, and other relevant clinical information
• Respond to patient questions related to symptoms, imaging, treatment, and follow-up care
• Coordinate care with radiation oncologists, referring physicians, nursing, radiation therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team
• Provide patient and family education throughout the treatment and follow-up process
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Participate in departmental quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives
• Support continued refinement and growth of the Radiation Oncology program

Required Qualifications

• Certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• Appropriate Alabama licensure or ability to obtain licensure
• DEA registration, as applicable
• Current BLS certification; ACLS as required
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team

Preferred Qualifications

• Oncology or Radiation Oncology experience
• Meaningful prior oncology experience, including oncology nursing, infusion services, inpatient oncology, or similar clinical experience (new graduates with this background are encouraged to apply)
