GI Associates, the leading gastroenterology practice in Central Wisconsin, is hiring an Advanced Practice Provider to deliver comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients in collaboration with supervising physicians. This role provides high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective care within clinic and hospital settings, playing a key part in ensuring continuity, clinical excellence, and an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care consistent with clinical standards including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in hospital, clinic, and outreach sites
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate the plan of care with patients and families, referring physicians, and supporting professional team members
  • Document all actions and plans accurately and timely per setting standards, including participation in quality reporting programs such as PQRS, Meaningful Use, and clinical guidelines
  • Collaborate with clinic coordinators, reception staff, and clinical team leads to build and maintain a cohesive, patient-focused clinic environment
  • Provide inpatient coverage including patient rounds, performing consults, and ordering and monitoring lab tests and radiology results
  • Ensure the supervising physician is informed about patient condition, test results, and care plans at all times
  • Coordinate post-discharge follow-up plans with GI Associates providers to assure continuity of care
  • Maintain clinic schedule to maximize patient access to appointments, including outreach locations, while meeting productivity targets
  • Provide in-service education for GI Associates staff, patient support groups, and community education forums
  • Assist in the development of patient education materials
  • Maintain clinical and coding knowledge in an evolving healthcare environment
  • Serve as a role model of customer service for patients, coworkers, and referring providers

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program
  • Current and valid Wisconsin Physician Assistant license, or Wisconsin Registered Nurse license and Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license
  • Current NCCPA certification, or AANP or ANCC certification
  • BLS and ACLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to three years of practice experience in an adult medicine setting

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of medical diagnostic and therapeutic principles, practices, and techniques
  • Advanced clinical knowledge of the gastrointestinal system, pharmaceuticals, and GI-related diagnostic testing including lab and radiology
  • Knowledge of location, care, operation, and safety hazards of medical equipment, instruments, and procedures
  • Knowledge of regulatory and licensing requirements, including documentation standards, coding, billing, and appropriate use of medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Interpersonal, communication, and listening skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with patients, physicians, and staff members
  • Proficient computer skills working in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Professionalism and respect in all forms of communication and correspondence
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives
  • Ability to practice integrity by showing an uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of personnel, fiscal, and health information
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and cope with rapidly changing patient care needs
