McLeod Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Breast Surgery team at McLeod Breast Surgery Seacoast. This role focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of benign and malignant breast conditions. You will provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout every stage of a patient's breast health journey, from risk assessment and diagnosis to survivorship and postoperative care.

Clinical Setting

You will work primarily in the outpatient setting within a specialized breast surgery practice. The team includes one physician (Hannah Woriax, MD – Breast Surgery), one APP, one LPN, two Medical Assistants, two Clerical Associates, and Nurse Navigator support through the McLeod Cancer Service Line. Patient volume is flexible within APP-led clinics, with approximately 95% outpatient care and 5% inpatient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive breast surgery care primarily in the outpatient setting, including independent clinic visits, postoperative follow-up care, survivorship management, and high-risk breast health assessments
  • Collaborate closely with the supervising physician, supporting patients throughout diagnosis, treatment planning, recovery, and long-term follow-up
  • Participate in the management of benign breast conditions, high-risk patients, cancer survivorship care, and postoperative surgical patients
  • Participate in a structured onboarding program that includes a minimum of one month of shadowing and mentorship with the supervising physician, with additional orientation tailored to your prior experience and gradual progression to independent patient care
  • Provide limited call coverage as needed when the supervising physician is out of office or on vacation

Schedule

  • Monday through Thursday: 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Friday: 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM

Required Qualifications

  • Current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license
  • At least two years of surgical or oncology-related experience; cumulative experience will be considered
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, postoperative management, wound care, drain management, and recovery protocols
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, communication, and care coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced candidates are strongly preferred
  • Significant prior clinical exposure in surgery, oncology, or a closely related specialty
  • New graduates may be considered if they possess significant prior clinical exposure in surgery, oncology, or a closely related specialty
