Periop Technician, Operating Room, FT, Variable

Blount Memorial Hospital is seeking a full-time Periop Technician for the Operating Room to provide technical support to surgical technologists, registered nurses, and anesthesia staff. This role is essential to maintaining efficient surgical operations through equipment management, room turnover coordination, and direct patient support.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cleanup and setup of operating rooms between cases to reduce turnover time
• Transport patients to and from the OR and other hospital areas
• Assist with patient preparation for surgery, including skin clipping and scrubbing
• Maintain a clean and orderly OR environment, managing trash, linen, and supplies appropriately
• Stock supplies and manage inventory, reporting any supply issues to the supervisor
• Run intra-operative errands during cases, including lab work, specimen transport, and retrieval of instruments from Central Sterile
• Respond to OR staff requests for supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals
• Respond to emergency calls to any OR as needed
• Assemble equipment outside assigned rooms for upcoming cases, including positioning aids, ice bags, video equipment, and specialty carts
• Assist with patient positioning using proper body mechanics
• Anticipate the needs of practitioners and patients to prevent last-minute requests
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Work experience with supply management
• Familiarity with healthcare terminology
• Prior operating room environment experience
