The opportunity

Job Description

Aspire Living & Learning seeks a Per Diem School Registered Nurse (RN) to support nursing procedures, care, and medication administration programs at Naugatuck Academy. In this role, you will ensure that all nursing procedures and medication documentation meet regulatory and organizational standards. You will conduct initial and refresher medication certification training and annual nursing procedure trainings as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and refresher medication certification training
  • Deliver annual nursing procedure trainings as needed
  • Ensure nursing procedures and medication administration meet all regulatory and Aspire Living & Learning standards
  • Maintain accurate medication documentation
  • Identify training needs and develop appropriate training based on those needs
  • Conduct medication and nursing audits

Clinical Setting

You will work with adults with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis in a school-based setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, valid RN license
  • Current, valid state certification to train mandated medication administration course and/or meet state requirements to become a certified trainer, if applicable
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing care and medication administration regulations
  • Ability to identify training needs and develop and deliver appropriate training
  • Ability to conduct medication and nursing audits
  • Excellent training skills
  • Satisfactory background checks
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience working with medication administration procedures and regulations
  • 5 years of experience developing and delivering medication administration training
  • Experience with diabetes care
  • Experience with adults with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis

Schedule

This is a per diem position with first shift hours. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with flexibility based on organizational needs.

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $30-$45 per hour
