Per Diem RN - Operating Room - Float Team

Join UCLA Health as a Per Diem RN in our Operating Room Float Team. In this position, you will provide exceptional nursing care for operating room patients across multiple UCLA Health locations, serving as both a scrub and circulating nurse. You will deliver direct patient care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice while collaborating with a multidisciplinary professional team on cutting-edge surgical procedures. This role supports research and education initiatives for staff and students.

This position floats to various units within the UCLA Health system based on patient census and staff skills. You may be assigned to:

• Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center
• UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center
• UCLA West Valley Medical Center

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice
• Serve as a scrub and circulating nurse for operating room cases
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop appropriate interventions involving patients, family, and staff
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary professional teams
• Contribute to cutting-edge and innovative surgical procedures
• Support research and education for staff and students
• Communicate effectively with team members and prioritize patient care needs

Required Qualifications

• Current California RN license
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree
• 3 years of Operating Room RN experience, or 2 years of UCLA Health Operating Room RN experience
• Ability to circulate and scrub operating room cases including ophthalmology
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Comprehensive patient assessment and intervention skills
• Exceptional communication, prioritization, organization, and delegation skills
• Thorough understanding of medical and surgical terminology
• Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) charting
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively with others in a collaborative team environment
• Official transcripts and/or original diploma from a registered nursing program must be provided upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Travel or extensive Operating Room RN experience in an acute hospital setting
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $116.66
• May convert to career position
