Job Description

VIC the PICC (VTP) is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to serve as a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant. In this role, you will work collaboratively with clinical teams at acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare settings to resolve venous access issues and facilitate treatment objectives. You may work on-site or in mobile settings throughout the Western and Southern United States, providing you with exposure to different treatment protocols and patient challenges. This position offers an alternative to traditional floor nursing, allowing you to provide specialized vascular access services without the demands of 12-hour shifts or constant patient-to-patient rushing.

Responsibilities

  • Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral intravenous lines using ultrasound guidance
  • Utilize ECG technology for PICC tip confirmation
  • Assist with management of PICCs and vascular access devices
  • Provide vascular access support services including port access, line removal, declotting, and venous access troubleshooting
  • Educate facility nursing staff regarding PICCs, midlines, and other central venous access devices

Clinical Setting

You will visit patients across multiple customer facilities, working both inside and outside hospital settings depending on individual referrals.

Schedule

This is a per diem position with a minimum of 4 scheduled shifts per month, including weekends. You must be willing to participate in the holiday rotation.

Travel Requirements

You must be willing to travel to customer facilities. A valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation are required for travel between patient sites. A smartphone is required for this role.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse license
  • American Heart BLS Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care RN experience
  • Experience placing PICCs, midlines, or other vascular access devices using ultrasound
  • Experience with vascular access device (VAD) management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Experience placing ultrasound-guided intravenous lines (USGIVs)
  • Ability to work independently and fulfill scheduling requirements

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive pay with performance-based bonuses
  • Company-provided vehicle or mileage reimbursement for travel between patient sites
  • Professional development including ongoing education, training, and mentorship
  • For full-time employees: comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, and paid time off
  • 24/7 on-call support
